Burlie & Friend Demonstrate the Summer Solstice

"Solstice" means many things. Astronomically, spiritually, temporally...

One can just say, "Hey! This is the longest day of the year! Enjoy!"

Or one can get into apogee, perigee, "angles of orbital displacement" -- and all manner of concepts that Beasts have no use for.

To the Beasts, the Solstice is simple. And delightful! And they want it to be for you, too.

So Burlie and Friend have come up with this handy demonstration:

Beastly Solstice, all!

Beast-Parents' Day: Fathering

Just as not all Beasts have mothers, many also don't have fathers.
(After all, Beasts and other Magical Beings aren't always created in quite the way we human "Giants" are.)

But being created without traditional fathers just means that they go out and find fathers. And they go out and find other Beasts and Beings in need of fathering.

They offer rescue and comfort:

They protect, and stand up for what is right.

They teach valuable lessons, and lead the way...

...and look out for danger.

They nurture...

They listen.

They play...

...and sometimes make funny faces.

They provide sustenance.

They show that big boys do cry...

And they give love.

The Beasts and Beings
Send special Fathers' Day love to human "Giants"...
Who are fatherly, whether fathers or not...
Who wish they were fathers...
and
Who miss their fathers.

The Trestle Troll Tracks the Trestle!

Burlie, like most Trolls, is very fond of bridges.

He particularly likes some of our local ones.

But Burlie's  favorite type of bridge is the TRESTLE.
(Indeed, he has at times been called The Trestle Troll.)

So he was delighted to hear of a local project...

The plan is to restore one of Burlie's favorite trestles...
The Rosendale Trestle

...to reconnect the full rail trail...
...so we human "Giants" can hike and bike it...
...and so Beasts won't fall through the planks.

Of course, a little danger isn't going to deter Burlie...

 Nor will signs...

...or locks...
...or fences.

But Burlie wants those of us who are more law-abiding to also be able to share in the Trestle.

So he hopes you will support the worthy cause:

He's so excited!

He's lying in wait for people in Rosendale...
...to exhort them to support the project.

Ahem...sometimes, it's more like EXTORT them.
"Support the Trestle. Or else!"

But he means well. And it's for a very good cause!

Burlie is always happy
to put our money
where his mouth is.

(And we are happy, too!)
