Leaf Lessons from Yolanta, Part II: for Parents

Yolanta reminds parents:
"Your children may be
like you in some ways,
different in others"

"And each of your children is
unique."

"If one 'disappoints' you, remember:
They are themselves,
Not copies of anyone."

"Those differences?
They might just be
perfect!
Embracing those differences
means
Embracing more love."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yolanta continues: "It's not just with our children...
"Think! If we were all the same
How dull our lives would be!
"How much richer if we learn
Some lessons from a Tree:
" 'No two leaves are just the same.
That's not how I create them.
'So when you spot the differences,
It's best to celebrate them!' "
Beasts Occupy Wall Street!
The Beasts and Beings find many things puzzling about "Merika" (as they call it).
Why do the human "Giants" here live so bizarrely?
Working at "jobs" -- often inside ugly structures...
Under artificial "light"?
Just to get...pieces of paper
And not even very attractive pieces of paper!
All this...just to be able to send other pieces of paper ...
... to other Giants who demand these via even less attractive pieces of paper:
My housemates and I did our best to explain this to them:
That we trade these pieces of paper for things like food and shelter and being taken care of when we're sick.
Well, they listened...
(I always thought "rolling on the floor with laughter" was just an expression.)
Beasts, apparently, have much less convoluted systems for acquiring these things. They love and respect the Earth...
...Who apparently returns the favor.
They help each other. They share.
But they are affable sorts, and quite tolerant of others' eccentricities -- even what they consider madness. It just amuses them.
They found it equally comical that some Giants have more pieces of paper than they could ever possibly count, let alone use
...Until they understood that many, many "Merikan" Giants don't have enough pieces of paper to trade for the things they need.
And when they found out that 1% of the Giants have 43% of the pieces of paper, and that 80% of the Giants are struggling to divvy up 7% of the pieces of paper...
They were Not Amused.
They were greatly relieved to learn that some Giants see how unfair this is. They found out about a movement they consider to be truly Beastly: Occupy Wall Street.
They prevailed on us to take them to Zuccotti Park, at the center of this Beastly Movement -- a sort of Beastly Island on the Giant Island of Manhattan.
They found it a little hard to see...
Fortunately, Nice Giants gave them a boost on their shoulders.
They saw many Beastly folks there.
And many colorful ways the Beastly Giants there were living:
They saw many signs they agreed with.
This was their favorite:
(Giants, take note!)
And they wanted to join in!
They found paper and markers, so they made signs.
They wandered around to give their Beastly Messages wider airing.
But they were hard to spot in the crowd.
Then, they found this Art Piece:
Finally, something Beast-sized!
And they staged their protest.
Many Giants came by and interviewed and photographed them -- with Very Big Cameras. They don't care about fame.
But they are glad they stood up for what's Right. Not just for 99% of "Merikan" "Giants" --
for 100% of us all.
If we could learn to live like Beasts
Our lives it would enhance
All we are saying...
